Beyond the Music
The Transparency Series
The Transparency Series is a project I started over 15 years ago. It began with an underwater shot of a queen triggerfish, while diving in the Bahamas. Over the years this collection has grown to a series of 12+ different kinds of fish. The mandarin fish from my first trip to Palau, as well as a juvenile lion fish. An adult lion fish from Truk. Two Different kinds of black lacy scorpionfish from Papua New Guinea. A puffer fish from Grand Cayman. A barramundi cod from Raja Ampat in Indonesia. And a hawk fish from the Bahamas….
Capturing the image of these amazing fish was only the first step. After years of trial and error, isolating the fish then placing them in acrylic frames – trying to find that seamless magic that has almost everyone wondering “how did you do that?”, I found that each would be completely unique. And they never failed to captivate. From the brilliant genius of the Broadway set designer Robin Wagner, to Maria Hults, the president of Beneath the Sea, the premier consumer dive show in America, and Verdery Roosevelt, the former executive director of Ballet Hispanico. These diverse collection of people, all found them as captivating as I continue to.
